RWA Open Sculpture Show

Fabulous and busy private view last night at the RWA in Bristol. Delighted to have my work exhibited in such a high quality show with an exceptional variety of work. Definitely worth a visit!

They have an online version of the show (https://shop.rwa.org.uk) where you can buy work as well but the image of mine, no.33, is just a detail.

Ashurst Art Prize currently trending second highest on instagram & my website goes live!!!

It has been so exciting networking across the globe with other people & artists interested in themes that come up in my work. Many thanks to the Ashurst Art Prize for their extraordinary policy to promote all entries through instagram. Even if I don’t get selected to exhibit I have been able to communicate with a significant audience and it has spurred me on to get my website up and running! Launch day today if the transfer has worked. And if you can and want to, then like my work on the Art Prize site - less than 20 more likes and I will be in the lead!

Datafield crowd funding goes live!

It’s happening for real … I’ve applied for grant funding to create this amazing project but I need your help too! Contributions large or small are welcomed - if you would buy me a drink to wish me well in my new career, then save my liver and put the money here instead.

Think my submission to the Ashurst ArtPrize is one of the most popular trending on Instagram

For a novice who just started using Instagram last month, I’m pretty impressed - over 750 people have liked my work and many of them are really interesting connections - I’m a convert! If you haven’t like my work yet, please do so.

New website

After years of teaching my students that they need a website and to represent themselves on social media, I have finally done it for myself! I am no longer just a teacher & parent but I have my practice back!

It is really refreshing the responses I have had to my artwork on Instagram and just how far and fast my work is travelling so now I’m launching a bit more of the background behind the work for a more in depth understanding of what I am about.

I have taken a great leap of faith to put my teaching career on hold and return to study my MFA but it is long overdue. Teaching, learning, engaging, participation & collaboration are all an integral part of my work and the issues that affect our future generations are vital to my thinking, so I’m sure I will find alternate opportunities soon.

Part of my rational in studying the MFA at Bath Spa is to invest in joining together the different aspects of my work and career to define the real me and for this reason, alongside my current portfolio I have published a fairly comprehensive collection of work from my early career as an artist, my years working in community arts and, with permission, student work & portfolios I have helped inspire. It has been really interesting looking at it all together and thinking about where it will take me next.

New research material for Solo Dancer project

Just had an exciting session photographing socio/psychological responses in dancing at Walcot Chapel as an experiment for a larger project using VR tracking to create 3D body drawings.

Upload of my "private blog" the thinking behind my current portfolio

Before I built my shiny new website, I was keeping a “private blog” about the recent work I have been making. Rather than recreate it as a fake blog I am going to upload it saved as I created it but from now on, I will try to keep it live.
